HISTORY OF CAKEWORKS

Cakeworks was born in early 1993. We opened a tiny kitchen in the basement of my house. Along with a business license, health board approval and a small ad in the yellow pages...we started baking and decorating our creations. The phone started ringing and away we went.

To date we have grown through four expansions due to the volume of cakes we were creating and the fact that we were always running out of space. From 5 cakes a week back in the basement to more than 200 a week at present ... it has been an interesting "adventure".

We have been fortunate enough to have some of the same clients now as when we started in our basement. It has been really neat for us to make someone's wedding cake for them, their baby's christening cake, their first birthday, second birthday, third, fourth, fifth, etc. We get to watch families grow and somehow we were a tiny part of it.

We have people bring us in their photo album with their collection of Cakeworks cakes they have bought or received over the years. That is a very satisfying part of this business. We have also had the good fortune to be involved with media segments throughout the years which have included our wedding cakes and birthday cakes.
