How do I transport my cake?
• Keep the cake flat
• Do not set anything on top of cake box
• Protect from sunlight and heat
• Drive gently
• To take your cake out of the box unfold the flaps of the box and get both hands under the cake to lift it out. Carry it to where it needs to be placed (cake may fold in half if it is lifted improperly)
• Cakeworks unfortunately cannot accept responsibility for damages to the cake after it has been picked up
How to store my cake?
• Store cake in your fridge for up to 2 weeks.
• Store cake at room temperature for up to 2 days.
• If you wish to freeze your cake, pull your cake out of the freezer and transfer to a fridge 24 hours before you are going to eat the cake (this slow thawing process prevents excessive sweating and bleeding colors).
• Left over cake can be stored in the same manner as the above, however the exposed edges of cake will dry out because there is no icing keeping the moisture locked in. You will have to trim those edges off before serving.
• Put left over cake into a sealed container.
What is my cake iced with?
• All our cakes are covered and decorated using soft buttercreme icing.
• Because there are some dark colors that require a lot of food coloring, some of the dark colored icing can take on a bitter after taste, stain your mouth for a while and also play some neat tricks on your digestive systems, all of which are NOT harmful.
• Coloured icing can mark your clothing but should come clean with some stain remover and regular wash.
• Icing tends to crack if it is cold. Try to handle your cake at room temperature so the icing is pliable.

What is an "Edible Print" a.k.a, "Edible Image," "Edible Photo" made of?
We can customize any cake or cupcake order using an Edible Image/Photo. Edible Images are printed onto edible icing paper, which is composed mostly of corn starch and sugar. It is printed with a computer printer using an edible food colouring ink.
Please Note: Once printed on edible paper, the colour of your image may vary from the original. The colour may also change once it is applied to the icing. Images may bubble as it melds together with the buttercream icing underneath. Unfortunately this is beyond our control and is just the nature of this product.
What is the difference between an Edible Image and a Cakeworks hand drawn image?
The Edible Image is a piece of edible icing paper that is fed through our printer. The image is printed with an edible food colouring ink. See above for the characteristics of the edible paper/ink.
The hand drawn image is actually created by our cake artists and is piped out with icing right onto the surface of the cake. Because of the hand drawn nature, the images can vary on each cake and will reflect a higher cost due to time involved for production.
Do you print custom Edible Images? Can I buy an Edible Image seperately?
Images print as you send them. We are not able to edit or alter images. This includes removing backgrounds, watermarks and writing.
No, we no longer offer edible images as a stand-alone product for purchase. They are only offered on our decorated cakes and cupcakes.
Just email us with your idea, and we will be happy to provide you with a quote.
Can I send a photo as reference for my hand drawn Cakeworks character?
